Teenager Arrested Over Mass Faculty Bomb Hoax

A teenage boy believed to be at the heart of an Minecraft gamers' dispute was arrested following an attack on a massive bomb shut down hundreds of schools and colleges across the UK.



The 19-year old was arrested by Hertfordshire police after some 24,000 threats were sent to schools warning of imminent bomb attacks in the event that cash was not handed over.



The emails appear to be sent by VeltPvP the gaming network. VeltPvP, a Minecraft player-versus-player server is the same service that businesses use to market their products to gamers.

The emails were intended to cause the domain to be shut down for abuse - and are thought to be sent by an organisation that was trying to discredit VeltPvP.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) declared that there was 'no credible threat to the emails' received this week.

In a statement, they said that they understood parents' and teachers concern, but stress that there was no credible threat to the school's emails.

Signs were put up in front of Cardinal Road School in Feltham after the hoax email bombings.



Those involved in the feud said that their adversaries had engaged in illegal activities to hinder one another's businesses.



"It's awful and it's not the most pleasant thing', one hoaxers stated when asked if they regretted the effect the letters had had on the school students who were forced to evacuate.



Placing the blame on VeltPvP, the hoaxer said the network had enaged in a series of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which he claims were used to try and block other competitors' Minecraft servers.



In the wake of the email hoax bomb threat, parents were told to return their children to their homes.



VeltPvP released a statement that stated that they were being targeted and harassed by cybercriminals.



We're sorry for anyone who has to go through this, but just know it's not real.'



The email was sent to more than 400 schools and colleges across the country. It claimed that the bomb was already planted and would explode if money wasn't given.

Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool and Bedfordshire were among those who were questioned.
