YouTuber and Minecraft streamer Technoblade has died at the age of 23 after a year-long battle with stage four cancer.

The content creator from San Francisco who kept his identity secret and only revealed his name in the final video as "Alex" rose to fame after posting videos of himself playing Minecraft online in 2013. He eventually went on to gain more than 10,000,000 subscribers.

He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in August. He had spent the majority of the year away from the media while undergoing chemotherapy.

While it is not known what form of cancer Alex had, he went on to raise funds for sarcoma charities - and in December he revealed that he had undergone surgery to remove a tumor in his arm.

His father, who is not known, shared the sad news of his son's death with his many followers in a video posted today to Technoblade's YouTube channel. The video was titled "So long nerds" and included a posthumous farewell message from the YouTube star.

He called his son "the best kid" and then shared an audio recording from his son. He said: "If I had another hundred life, I think that I would choose Technoblade again every single day as those were my happiest years in my life."

He quickly amassed a following of millions, sharing with them multiple clips of himself playing Minecraft, although he never revealed his face or name to fans.

In August, however, he shared the shocking news that he had been diagnosed with cancer in a video called "Where have you been" which has been viewed 13,000,000 times.

In the video, he told fans he had been diagnosed with cancer after thinking he had an arm injury, revealing: 'In the last few days of July, my right arm started to hurt quite a lot.'

The content creator (seen below), who had not revealed his identity or name before his final video posted, was diagnosed last year with stage four cancer.

He initially thought it was a stress-related injury from his ongoing gaming. He took a few days of vacation before realizing that it wasn't going anywhere. GAMING
