Common readers of the positioning know that the higher management is being shifted around here at Massively, which means that Brianna Royce will now be in charge. Whereas we'll at all times miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the positioning, the change will doubtless seem invisible to most readers.

I, for one, wish to welcome our new overlord, for whom I have nothing but respect and admiration. By complete coincidence, this week's header picture happens to be of her favorite animal. Also, I may have despatched numerous gift baskets of fruit to her home. And I'm certain we are able to all agree that earlier situations of tomfoolery shouldn't be taken under consideration when she now considers that she has complete power over me.

Shifting on from the welcoming of overlords, it's time for this week's installment of WRUP, that includes the Massively employees explaining our plans for the weekend in addition to whether or not a graphical upgrade would deliver us back to our first MMOs. Try our plans past the break, and let us know what you will be as much as in the comments!

@Beau_Hindman: I will be settling down on a brand new deed in Wurm On-line, persevering with to grind my teeth as I wait for my new Laptop to get right here, and putting my exploration cash the place my mouth is by lastly downloading IMVU. It is a social MMO that appears very... completely different. I'm additionally still gathering my listing of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for coverage. Fortunately I nonetheless have most of my previous accounts!

If I updated any graphics for a few of my favourite video games, that may imply a downgrade for lots of them. I need graphics which are more stylized, particularly like those in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I might like to see a "severe" game accomplished with a more stylized aptitude. Wurm Online can stay how it's, but I really want to see some new avatars. I do know they're coming, but boy, I can not wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I'll be entertaining a visiting Swedish buddy from my outdated World of Warcraft guild, working hard on Predestination, and trying to convince my housemates to play more Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have truly brought me back a number of instances. I started again when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the first large 3-D replace hooked me again in for a number of months. I've returned periodically to see what the game is like, and the graphics are definitely the first thing I search for. EVE On-line has the same effect, with large graphical updates pulling people back in to strive the sport once more.

@nbrianna: I'll be dividing my game time between Guild Wars 2 and City of Heroes. Double XP is on completely in CoH, I hear, so it's the perfect time to roll up a new character in time for the Positron's Ally event next week.

My first MMO was Ultima Online, and graphical upgrades did convey me back many times. That game has had extra improved shoppers than any MMO I know... but these upgraded shoppers usually get abandoned by the crew earlier than they're finished because many of the veterans simply refuse to switch. Very frustrating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: City of Heroes, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the ever-standard Providing Assist to a Liked One with a Chilly. In some unspecified time in the future I'll truly play Guild Wars 2 for more than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I am fortunate, it will be earlier than the end of the decade.

I am really the improper person to ask about returning to a game for a graphical improve as a result of graphics have by no means been what's turned me off from a game. I did not initially go away Final Fantasy XI because of the graphics; I left as a result of the sport wasn't truly fun to play. If I see indicators that the game I did not like X amount of time in the past has gotten higher, I am going to come operating proper back, but putting a brand new coat of paint on a sport I wasn't enjoying does not lure me again.

@elixabethclaire: The key World continues to be on pause for me as I commit my time to Guild Wars 2. I'd prefer to hit eighty by the center of the upcoming week, so I'll be doing loads of PvE and WvW this weekend. I didn't imply to, however I've received a complete agenda plotted out for my momentary "primary" after she hits 80, not to mention a little roster of who's in need of leveling after her.

Not much gaming for me this weekend. Perhaps some The key World.

I go back and play all of my old MMOs anyway regardless of updates, though I am very much wanting forward to Anarchy On-line's eventual reskin.

@Sypster: My MMO to do list is a mile huge at this level. I really need to put a cap on Quantity III Guide 6 in Lord of the Rings Online, take a look at the brand new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get via Egypt in The key World, and make the massive bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, effectively, if Anarchy Online ever will get that newfangled redux off the bottom, then you may bet I'll be first in line. It would be nice to see what a barely more updated AO would appear like.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I'm busy with a household trip, however in any spare time I've, I will log into RIFT and grasp out subsequent to Atrophinius in the Autumn occasion simply to hear his hilarious voice-overs. Aside from that, I'll probably pop into Minecraft with the youngsters so we can work on our tree house.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I might be extra prone to return if the game really reverted back to the outdated graphics of avatars and revamped zones. i'm bonnie and you are

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we've received some mutual friends coming to stay for the weekend. As a result, my gaming time might be going to be occupied extra by split-display mayhem than MMO funtimes. But when the chance arises, I will be splitting my time between The key World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I return to EverQuest or Ultima Online if both one acquired a graphical update? That is a great question. I wish to say sure, but I do not know if I would be telling the truth. I loved UO and EQ again in the day, however I think it will take a bit more than a graphical upgrade to make me a participant again. For each charmingly dated feature that I fondly remember, there is a plethora of actually archaic design decisions that I don't think I would be ready to put up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to recreation this weekend!! *almost faints with pleasure* How much can I cram in? Let's see, the vote won't be in for Select my Journey, so The secret World might be on hold till Monday. (By the way in which, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I am going to dive into GW2 more (I really want to check out an Asura), begin plotting more for my EverQuest II group purchasing district as well as take in just a few dungeons, and unfold my wings in Aion to finish up some quests and possibly even get just a few rounds of PvP Arenas in. I also plan on eating pizza. Mmm.

I'd go back in the event that they'd flip the blasted servers back on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I've been enjoying extra Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you realize what that's), in addition to League of Legends. I'm presently carrying as Graves, although I am pretty sure those studying my column already know that. It feels good to play more airdash fighters, though; I feel like a little bit of a void has been filled in my gamer heart.

In order for me to return to EQ, it could take a greater recreation, not a graphical replace. Really, graphical updates imply nearly nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 had been on top of the GW2 engine, I'd still be down for playing it. High-quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I shall be jumping into Star Trek On-line this weekend to play just a few Foundry missions to talk about on my UGC podcast. I'll also be in Lord of the Rings On-line as I discover it very enjoyable to farm and craft in that recreation. If time allows, I will likely be back in Glitch as well. And sure, the rumors are true: Some people are twisting my arm to offer Guild Wars 2 a attempt. I might decide it up this weekend.

I am really glad this week's query does not apply to me. My first MMO remains to be my favorite, and it is an exquisite game -- Star Trek On-line!

In the beginning of each weekend, we meet up with the Massively employees members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (In any other case often called: WRUP!) Be part of us to see what we're up to in and out of sport -- and catch us within the feedback to let us know what you are playing, too!
