Minecraft Pocket Edition is Available on Android Market but only Xperia Play Users Need Apply

Just a couple months after making its grand debut at this year's E3, Minecraft has finally been released to the Android Market, much to the delight of cube enthusiasts and people who like to waste their time. Mojang hopes to faithfully recreate Minecraft on mobile devices with this Pocket Edition app. Mojang puts a particular emphasis on the game's creativity. In version Alpha 0.1, players will be able explore worlds that are randomly generated and invite friends to join in their worlds and save multi-player worlds directly to their phones- all while manipulating 36 different types of blocks from the convenience of their touchscreens. The game is currently only available for Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. Mojang plans to release it "in the near future" for other Android phones. The game is available for purchase for $6.99.
