We hope that you're not too attached to either the Minecraft Java or Bedrock editions of one the most popular building games for PC. Microsoft and Mojang confirmed that they'll be removing them on the 7th of June.

You may be confused by the existence of two versions of Minecraft on PC and Mac, the Java and Bedrock editions. PCGamesN offers a useful guide to help you understand the differences between the two versions. However, if you have paid for one of them, you won't have access to the other. It's a bit odd.

Mojang and Microsoft have clearly agreed, since they've announced (thanks, Neowin) the Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition - a single-purchase version of Minecraft on PC that will replace the separate editions. MINECRAFT The game will be available for purchase on June 7 and will be "the only and standard edition of the original Minecraft on Windows PC."

Anyone who owns either the Java or Bedrock editions of Minecraft will be upgraded to the combined edition. This upgrade is automatic, but it could take up to three days for all eligible players to experience the game.

Mojang confirms that otherwise "Java and Bedrock will remain distinct games with their own distinctive features," with the only difference is that you don't have to purchase them separately and can access both from the same Minecraft launcher. boasted This is good news for everyone, with the exception of those who recently purchased both of them separately. It should make the process of downloading Minecraft much simpler.
